This position is a member of the Athletic Department and reports to the Director of Athletics. This is a twelve-month position.


BRIEF JOB SUMMARY: Implement and manage all phases of a competitive Division II program in accordance with NCAA, Conference and Converse University regulations.



  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of intercollegiate coaching experience preferred
  • Strong recruiting background
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Commitment to liberal arts education

  • Administer and direct all aspects of the program
  • Adhere to all applicable NCAA, conference, department and college regulations that relate to       recruiting, daily program management, operation of the individual sport and general success of        the program;
  • Recruit quality student-athletes by means of personal contact and correspondence, evaluating       ability in person or by video, and on-campus visits;
  • Work closely with the Director of Compliance, Admissions office and Financial Aid in recruiting             process;
  • Develop an annual line-item budget and closely monitor the allocation and expenditures of funds to maintain a balanced budget;
  • Plan and carry out in-season conditioning and practices, evaluate team and individual      performance;
  • Prepare and carry out off-season conditioning, practice and other related activities;
  • Establish team and individual goals;
  • Prepare game plans from personal scouting reports;
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge base of athletic conditioning and team training and safety;
  • Schedule and conduct prospective student-athlete tryouts;
  • Attend departmental staff meetings, clinics, workshops, etc.;
  • Attend campus-wide staff meetings;
  • Oversee home event management;
  • Monitor and promote student-athlete academic progress and success;
  • Administer and coordinate all equipment and uniform purchases within budgetary limitations;
  • Promote, as well as monitor, the physical, emotional and social welfare of student-athletes;
  • Develop and implement team fundraisers;
  • Participate in department fundraisers;
  • Ensure that all financial requests are handled according to department and college policy;
  • Plan and implement procedure for home and away contests (food, travel, cash requests);
  • Maintain a complete inventory of all equipment and uniforms pertaining to the sport;
  • Report on needs and maintenance of facilities and equipment to the athletics administration;
  • Recruit student-athletes to maintain expected squad size;
  • Work with Sports Information Director regarding squad pictures, publicity, and newsletters;
  • Work with Director of Athletics on scheduling;
  • Responsible for developing training rules and conduct of student-athletes; 
  • Work with the Athletic Trainers to ensure the health and safety of student-athletes;
  • Responsible for all team travel;
  • Academic monitoring of student-athletes;
  • Schedule and participate in community service with staff and student-athletes;
  • Participate on campus, conference and NCAA committees, if applicable;
  • Supervision of Women’s Basketball staff;
  • All guarantees must be approved by the Director of Athletics;
  • Perform other duties not specifically stated herein but deemed essential to the operations of the  program as assigned by the Director of Athletics
